Getting ready for the rush hour, Xochilimilco, Distrito Federal, México.

Ever since my ninth grade Spanish class when we talked about the famous “floating gardens,” (properly: chinampas), I’ve wanted to go to Xochimilco and take a boat out on the canal. Finally got to do it a good twenty years later.

I wasn’t disappointed.

So … one year I was inspired to do one of those photo a day for 365 days projects. I made it til about August and then petered out—there were lots of photos of whatever I was making for dinner that night as well. Anyway, on day 2—January 2, in fact, I took this photo. It’s of the inside of the clothes drier.
